OMPUTER AIDED DESIGN/COMPUTER AIDED MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY IN TEXTILE INDUSTRY AN OVERVIEW

ABSTRACT: Introduction of CAD/CAM technology through adoption of modern designs and colour combinations facilitates easy creation of virtually any kind of weave and design, helps simulate the created weave/design in different colour combinations even before the actual fabric is produced, and provides the required weaving parameters in various formats to weave the same photo realistically into the actual fabric form. This state-of-the-art technology having virtually unlimited features that can never be imagined by manual designing is currently being adopted by almost every powerloom industry. Handloom sectors/units are also taking the help of this cutting-edge technology for increasing productivity and value addition, though quite few in numbers till date.

Key words : CAD/CAM, Dobby, Jacquard, GUI, Simulation, Peg Plan, Draft, Lift, Heald shaft.
