INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHOR
Aims and Scope: Science and Culture is a multidisciplinary journal that provides a medium for publication of substantial and original articles, reviews and notes which focus on research and development in science, society and culture, national issues and events. This is a unique journal connecting the reflection of the community of Indian scientists and thinkers on the public understanding of science and culture together. All publications including Editorial, Book Review, Notes and News etc. in the journal are the opinions expressed by the contributors and neither the Indian Science News Association nor the Editors and the Editor-in-Chief of Science and Culture assume any responsibility for the same.
Types of Contribution: Manuscripts which will subject to peer review, should take one of the following forms:
Articles, should be substantially original, definitive and describe a reasonably complete investigation with definite conclusion. For the benefit of the wide readership of the journal the article should preferably be written in non-technical language.
Research Communications, based on original investigation on any subject of topical interest and must contain previously unpublished information. This may include preliminary communication and work in progress.
Notes and News present the recent discovery, recent news on a current topic or event, and will be accepted for publication following discussion with the Editorial Board of the Journal.
Letters to the Editor containing comments related to articles previously published in the journal.
Book Reviews by invitation from the Editor-in-Chief.
Editorial Board reserves the right to classify articles under separate categories like 'Opinion', 'Focus' etc. other than
those described above.

General: Manuscripts must be type double-spaced with a font size of 12pt. Full postal and e-mail address must be given for all the co-authors. To expedite publication, the Editorial Board prefers to communicate with authors by e-mail: editorial.scienceandculture@gmail.com The Editors reserve the right to adjust style and language to certain standards of uniformity.
Paper length: Articles should not ordinarily exceed 5000 words, Research Communications should not ordinarily exceed 2500 words and Letters to the Editor and Notes and News should not exceed 500 words.
Abstracts: An abstract of not more than 80 words must be supplied for all articles and research communications.
Text: Follow this order when typing manuscripts: Title, Authors, Abstract, Main text, Acknowledgements, Appendix, References, Figure Captions and then Tables. Headings should be in bold, subheadings in bold italics and sub-subheadings in italics only. The affiliation of authors should be identified with asterisk and be placed as footnote.
References: All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references following the text of the manuscripts. In the text, relevant reference will be marked by the superscript numerals serially (e.g. Results are found to agree with synchrotron experiments of Jung et al.1, but differs with theoretical results2). References should be given in the following form:

Illustrations: An illustration should be provided in camera-ready form, suitable for reproduction (which may include about 30% reduction) without retouching. The width of all illustrations reproduced in a single column is 7 cm or less. Photographs, charts and diagrams are all to be referred to as “Figure(s)” and should be numbered consecutively in the order to which they are referred. Lettering, graph lines and points on graphs should be sufficiently large and bold to permit reproduction when the diagram has been reduced to a size suitable for the journal. Original photographs (photocopies of photographs are not acceptable) must be supplied. A scale should be marked in the photograph when necessary. Figures may be published in colour, if this is judged to be essential. When colour figures are required, the author will be charged extra for colour printing at the prevailing rate. All figures must accompany caption.
Tables: Tables should be numbered consecutively and given a suitable caption. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet, footnotes to tables, if any, should be typed below the table and should be referred to by superscript lowercase letters. No vertical rules should be used. Tables should not preferably duplicate results presented elsewhere in the manuscript (e.g. in graphs).
Submission of Papers: All manuscripts complete in all respects written in Microsoft word (.doc, .docx) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) should be sent electronically to the Editor-in-Chief of the journal through e-mail: editorial.scienceandculture@gmail.com / chiefeditorscienceandculture@gmail.com Authors are requested to check the references carefully before submission. Manuscripts with incomplete references or not fulfilling the instructions given above are liable to be rejected. Manuscript will be considered for publication with the understanding that the work has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as a part of an academic thesis) and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and all authors are aware of the data/information provided. Manuscript with plagiarism, serious scientific and technical errors, will be rejected. Papers once accepted will not be published elsewhere including electronically in the same form, or in any other language, without the written consent from the Editor of the journal. When excerpts and figures from other copyrighted works are used, it is the responsibility of the authors to obtain written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) of the article.
Proofs: One set of page proofs (as PDF files) will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author/guest editor. You may list your corrections quoting page number and line number or you may mark the corrections in the proof, scan it and return it by e-mail to the editorial office within 3 days from the date of receipt. Note that the editorial office may not proceed with the publication of the article if no response is received. Please ensure that all corrections are sent back in one communication, as inclusion of subsequent corrections is not guaranteed. Proof reading is solely author's responsibility. Utmost care to correct the proofs will be taken by the editorial office for those who do not have e-mail facility but the office is not responsible for any errors.
Reprints: Reprints are available in .pdf format at a flat rate of Rs. 500.00 for members of ISNA and Rs.1,000.00 for non-member of ISNA. Persons interested to have printed reprints can be ordered at the current rate of Rs. 200.00 per page upto 25 copies and Rs. 150.00 per page for subsequent 25 copies. Order for reprints will be placed on receipt of the proof and payments will be made through bank transfer immediately. Reprints may be downloaded from our website free of cost within the period of approximately two months of the publication of an issue.
